Number of Visitors
During the June 23, 2026, workshop meeting at City Hall, Councilman Loren Anderson stated that only 771 unique visitors have been to the Museum at Keewaydin in the last two years, then the Tri-City Hearld published that statement without reaching out to us for comment.
One of our board members emailed him to inquire about the source of that figure, but he has not yet responded. It is likely he is utilizing AI-based location-tracking software. Such tools track individuals via smartphones and are often flawed, particularly for small-scale applications. They fail to account for anyone without a smartphone—which includes most children and many seniors—and they do not track individuals who have disabled location services. Furthermore, regarding the metric of "unique visitors," a person is only counted the first time they visit a location, whereas we have many repeat visitors.
This figure in no way reflects our actual visitor count. As of today, we have hosted at least 602 visitors in 2026, despite being closed for six weeks in February and March for flooring replacements. In 2025, we recorded at least 900 visitors. While these figures are not as high as we would like, Councilman Anderson's statement is incorrect and misleading.
